FISHCAKE FRIDAY

This is a great story, during lockdown St M’s Events, a community benefit co-op based at St Michael’s and All Angels church in Paulsgrove and supported by CSR through its rdp programme, launched a ten week food project called Meatball Mondays. It was fronted by London based chef Louis Coward, who while on furlough from his job at Soho House, cooked up over 1,000 meatballs with help from local volunteers. Since then Louis has taken a sabbatical from Soho House and is currently based at St M’s, where he has created  a follow-up project called Fishcake Friday. This time with a little help from the Army (namely the Catering Department of 12 Air Defence Regiment, based at Thorney island) Louis and Lance corporal Elvin and the team will be making homemade fishcakes, boxing them up in ‘ration boxes’ and giving away for free every Friday afternoon until Christmas from St Michael’s church. Everyone is welcome to pop by and collect some.

This is one of the ways that St M’s Events ,a National Lottery and Council for Social Responsibility ( CSR) funded project is creatively assisting Paulsgrove with the cost of living crisis this Winter.

St M’s is also hosting a heat hub, ‘The Paulsgrove Lounge ‘which will be based at the church every Monday and Friday throughout the Winter, offering a warm, cosy and friendly space with sofa’s, wi-fi and free coffee for locals to access and enjoy, while saving a little on heating costs at home.
