rdp is a simple, practical programme designed to help parishes look afresh at their communities and discover new ways to connect, grow, and serve.
It’s about being open, generous, and confident and offers a positive and hopeful way forward. Designed to build relationships, through a fun and engaging process, rdp will energise and spark new ideas and already has proven successes with parishes across seven dioceses.
As the Church of England we are everywhere and for everyone – people of all faiths and none – yet we all know the story; Churches are in real decline and communities are changing fast. Many people face complex challenges; isolation, financial strain, job uncertainty or relationship difficulties – young people in particular are experiencing more diverse lifestyles, housing challenges and a general sense that change does not always feel positive. In the 2020’s the perception of life has become more complex and fast-paced. In these times the Church is simply not cutting through, tending to depend all too often on the same few people to do too much with decreasing resources.
If we do nothing and don’t make important and genuine changes, nothing will improve and the power of Church will be further weakened.
We need to be open, generous and wise in responding to the shifts around us – then we can be better placed to deal with the pressures and changing rhythms of life in our communities. Together we need to find new ways to share our timeless, hopeful message so it connects with new people, in new times and in new ways.
Jesus’ mission was shared, local, hopeful—and rooted in community. That’s our call too. We need to let go of all that is no longer working, carry forward the heart of our tradition, and open the doors wide to new voices, new people, and new ways of being Church. It is about building something different and hopeful which is shared and created with our neighbours.
It will mean being braver. More generous. More willing to take risks. And yes—rediscovering joy and fun. Here is how…

All the work comes together in a short, practical plan to help you collaboratively act on what you’ve learned.
