Health and wellbeing for children and young people is an important component of CSR’s strategy and on-going commitment to creating social resilience.

Project background

In 2023, CSR undertook a series of consultations which led to the commissioning of a report on Children and Young People’s Emotional Health from Andrea King (until recently UK Clinical Director of the Anna Freud Foundation, – a world leading UK mental health charity for children and families).

The final report delivered in December 2023, summarised the current situation in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and recommended a preventative approach and the implementation of learning pathways to enable children, young people and their families to access support long before they might need help from CAMHS.

Recent developments

In 2024, CSR appointed a Programme Lead, Lydia Galloway to develop the recommendations and through a co-production approach with young people, created with them the tools and outcomes to resonate and aid emotional health. The Wellbeing podcast and Gather and Create are current live projects.

There will be further scope to develop work in post-bereavement/loss support for children, alongside promoting and creating opportunities such as healthy eating, sport, creative activities, and nature, all recognised to be significant contributors for good mental health and wellbeing.
